The number of job openings on the last business day of June reached a new series-high of 10.1 million, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced in its latest Job Openings and Labor Turnover Summary (JOLTS) on Monday. This reading came in higher than the market expectation of 9.28 million.
"Hires rose to 6.7 million and total separations edged up to 5.6 million," the publication further revealed. "Within separations, the quits rate increased to 2.7%. The layoffs and discharges rate was unchanged at 0.9%, matching the series low reached last month."

The US Dollar Index edged slightly higher after this report and was last seen rising 0.07% on the day at 92.84.
